The weekend

Today is rthe first weekend since i returned to work. First there was the leave and then was the sickness. Since most of my stories appear in the saturday, sunday and monday editions of the paper. I have had a very weird week indeed. Weird because the stories i wrote had to be raw, i didnot have an interview-not that i could walk or meet any one when my mobility is still restricted thanks to my bad knee.
Anyhow, i will use this weekend to try and apply for two jobs that i qualify for then think of stuff to write for next week-for now i will just have a couple of beers.

Am back

Stepping back in the office after two weeks i felt i had not even been away for a day. The problem ofcourse was having to expalin to everybody; " i heard you were sick did you recover" and all that blah blah. Anyhow, work is okay, only George Kallisa was fired over his eccentric article in The East African. I always told the guy he gets excited so fast and unneccessarily. So he is out, and his job has been taken over by Gashegu.
Apart from the usaul kasasiro of returning back, i have very little motivation. Help me God

Kampala

I reached here wednesday evening and almost got bored immediately.
Ofcourse the difference in hygiene and quality of roads withstanding; the rest is familiar between Kgl and Kla.
Anyhow back home, my room was crumbed so ihad to clean it first and set base before hitting the streets to Tickles and Gigles and later Capital Pub. I love Kansanga.
My journey was full of bullshit; first at boarder i was cheated by a money changer on the Rwandan side of the boarder. However wheni entered the bus again the beautiful girl seated next to me advised me to go back and check for th guy as fate would have it i saw the guy and he gave me the money he cheated from me-70000 shillings.
Today, iam lazy, there's an Italian supermarket next to Al's bar where they have very good food i went there for breakfast with Gilbert and now am in the internet cafe.
Its nice not have any particular Gahunda for the day.

Nations' Cup

Ghana against Guinea was a wonderful match; watched from Medi's which is the worst example of customer service anywhere in the country.
The match itselsf was wonderful with Guinea answering every Ghananian big name with their own commitment. The action was top of the edge from first to last whistle and had it not been for the Ghananain big man wearing number 9 Agogo' succesful attempt at fooling the referee Guinea would pulled off a great point against one of the favourites.
The game also showcased the great Abedi Pele's son Andre Ayew-whop at 17 has all the hallmarks of his father's dribbling skills, stamina and pace. Ayew is responsible for putting the Guinean defense under immense pressure which culminated in Sulley Muntari's great strike. As for Ghana, Essien was effectively kept under watch by a very a very competent Guineam midfirld which allowed for littlew space in which Ghananian Kingston would only wait for the crumbs of free kicks.

Saturday

The flop
She walked in and out of my life just like the cyclonic rains in the tropics. Well; i geuss when you are single every woman seems like your potential chance to hit romantic settlement.
That was before she began ating like the typical girl next door which would be nice if i were not a hustler to unearth a few stones about her life. I think i will need sometime alone again. And yes, i think the single life is still great-if the boat is still sailing smooth. Why rock it anyway?

In my old fashioned Italian-like values, it is important that a partner in whatever relationship should play straight up about their intetions. So i will focus more on my job and career now.

The crazy editor
The Managing Director recently made a big boss speech concerning reporters' responsibilty for the mistakes in their stories that appear in the newspapers.
However; seeing as it is that the final word remains with the editors-who need to read alot of grammar themselves-we are in for a big problem-i mean the ones whose bylines appear in the paper.
So i write two stories for the Sunday paper and they all have mistakes in their intruductions-courtesy of the editors. What the hell do i do?
The story about Nyarutarama was screwed so was the one about the African Cup of Nations'. I think i badly need that leave now.
Tate
The last time i wrote about Tate; the things i wrote about her were not very nice and somehow my boss knew read my Kasasiro and called me for another bigger brother talk. I went and apologised to Tate and told the truth that though i dont like her; she deserves the respect her age is due so we made up abit.
With Micah and Nona gone with their dad to the US, Tate is so lonely that i cannot help but to feel sympathy for her. So even i am not any good with hugs yesterday i gave her tha rare George hug for a micro second just to make her feel that iam there for her. She is welcome to my house for a chat and i will listen. But actually the home looks deserted without the two girls waiting ujp at the gate for; "George, wa maye Chocola?" That is Micah. I will miss her......the first person i think i can miss now.

The new boss at work has brought in a new sense of purpose and direction in the office. He cannot win any popular contest currently but he has brought back senior managers who were earning as they wished back to the basics.
Now i hope promotion will be mainly because of competence not tribe, relations with a boss or anything like that.

On a very different note, yesterday the friday ritual was on. The boys came home for drinks and we chilled with music from the 80s, we had great ood thanks to Hajji and his lying ways.
Its nice to hang out on a friday-when u have to report to work early morning on a saturday high!!!!

The problem habit

Finally Faustin sold his behicle and left Kigali. It was a long pimping escapade for him and i admire him for it. I had got attached to his little girsl-it will be a longwhile before i forget them..an even longet time before i write about Faustin again. He went to meet Josh in NYC and then latter......May he be lucky!!

My courting escapades are also improving; now i have someone to make regular calls to and or be jealous about..or maybe.
am now considering the possibility of getting a housemate so we can split the cost..that way i will be able to afford a Mac Book from David Kawai and my tution.
Sometimes solving one problem creates many more problems. Or to put it subtly, some problems look problems when they are actually not. When i quit smoking it was because of all the evils of that bad habit.
Now to square off smoking i found myself begining to learn drinking alcohol. Smoking could be evil but it leaves you with resources to manage your bills comfortably. However beer swindels and milks you slowly to financial and sometimes even moral ruin.
