Crossfire is a huge political talkshow; the only English talkshow in Rwanda; and for several times i have been invited as part of panelists to discuss ussues ranging from the leadership of President Paul Kagame to media freedom in Rwanda.
The first few timers i was very corky and i received too much basing from the listners. However; experience and newly acquired finesse have helped to biuld my confidence while dealing with older men and facts.
None of my friends were able to listen in yesterday and so i have not yet received any one's opinion but i think this time i did very good job.
My honest view is the development of media in any society is a reflection of other developments in that partcular society. Rwanda's entire society is just growing-germinating is the word i want to use and therefore just like everything else in the country; the press is also infant. At this point in our country; we should be debating how to get jobs for the unemployed majority in our commnuities rather than busying ourselves with intellectual talk about liuxury freedoms.
Therefore; after we have overcome the problems which stand in the way of many in our homes accessing basic stuff like food, education, health care we can begin talking secondary freedoms.
